My first trip on the metro. When I got in Sunday evening, I decided to go explore the metro. I hopped on a train and went the wrong direction. I finally figured out how all this worked though, and I can figure out how to get just about anywhere in D.C. I highly recommend using the metro if you ever come to D.C. it is nice, cheap, and way better than dealing with some of the traffic I have seen. If you are going to be in D.C. for about a week get an Unlimited Short Trip pass. They cost about $22 and you can ride anywhere as often as you like. The trick is that some of the longer rides you need to go out the turnstiles and then come back in or you will have to pay an exit fare during peak times. I think the limit during peak times is trips costing more than about $2, but like I said if you are doing this just go out and then come back in and it will count as a second trip. I learned this trick from one of the metro attendants. My other option was the Unlimited week long pass which is about $10 more.
